Three suspicious deaths we know from Medieval history, three sets of investigations by modern historians and archaeologists. Was Cangrande della Scala, patron to Dante Alighieri, truly poisoned? Who had motive to plot the assassination of King Erik V of Denmark? What kind of intrigue ran through the Vatican leading to the death of Pope Celestine V? We use the tools of history and archaeology to shed light on these mysteries and learn more about the societies in which these plots and power plays were hatched.
