Armenia lurks in the background of modern history and pops up every now and again. Ancient Armenia was a force in the ancient world: complex, epic and heroic. The coveted prize of Assyria, Mede, Persia, and Parthia. Geography has played its part as Armenia was at the ancient crossroads of the Mediterranean, Black, and Caspian Seas on a high land-locked plateau. The course investigates the beginning of Armenian history to the first century BCE.
